I love what you've done here, but they look to me like they need a second coat of dye. I have done exactly the same with a couple of pairs of brown suede, and I found that two light coats are better than one heavier coat.

You confused me early on in the video when you said that the U.S. only make Goodyear welted shoes and not bespoke. While I understand that there are few if none, U.S. bespoke shoe makers, are you implying that bespoke shoes are not Goodyear welted because most of them are as opposed to Blake welted. Please clarify. Thank you.

do you have any videos showing how you can repair your upper when it can't keep it shape. I think the might have been compressed when I put them in my travel bag.

Cool video. But if you're paying 30 bucks for an airbrush, it's gonna be a POS; full stop. Go pick up something from Iwata or Paasche in the 100-150 range. Any model will do for your purposes in that price range. Then get a compressor with a tank. Anything from Horror Fright will do so long as you have a regulator and moisture trap. Air is air, love is love, lube is lube.

when would you advise stripping and redoing them? im active duty navy and wanting to do this with my boots and shoes just wondering at what point do you just reset and do it all over again also how would this go if ive already polished them with kiwi and/or lincoln polish

I have a pair of trickers bookbinder shoes for over 10 years a they are in great shape . Instead of using traditional shoe care products I use 303 aerospace protectant and armor all to shine them and I go over the shoe every couple months . Instead of using shoe polishes and creams use plastic conditioners I get the 303 from Amazon the white bottle, and armor all from anywhere like autozone or Walmart .

You can sand them down that works well to preston if you burn the wax into the leather till it bubbles then it wont crack the shoe will be rock hard and wont flex

Yup, people don't realize but you always get better results when you let the wax hardened. I'm new to shoe mirror shine but it's the same principle as car wax. The longer you wait the harder it gets, and the better is the gloss. On a car you apply the wax and wait for a good 45min to an hour at least before buffing. On shoes, it's not typically done because most people don't have the time. Usually you put down the wax. Wait a minute. start to buff. Essentially 85-95% of the wax is back on the buffing tool, leaving only a thinner coat of wax on the shoe. A little heat helps dry which is why when Buffy the friction helps the wax dry. But not as well as time :p To get mirror finish texture surface must disappear. No way around it. Thinner the wax. Lesser the shine.

What’s the best for the mid sole? I have seen s’aphir sole guard but not sure if that’s for the midsole too?

Unfortunately I have been experiencing the worst customer service experience ever from Meermin Shoes. I ordered a pair of loafers online from their website. The shoes arrived and were a half size too small. So I exchanged them for a half size up. I had to pay $15 dollars for shipping on the exchange. When my ‘new’ exchanged shoes arrived there were defects. I was requested to return this pair for another exchange. Ten days later I received an email from their shipping/billing department that in order for me to receive my exchange I would have to pay another $15 dollars for shipping fees. That would mean that in order to receive the correct size and undamaged I would have to pay $30 above the retail price as listed on their website! On top of this, it’s been extremely difficult communicating with their shipping dept. At first they seemed to have a hard time understanding that I’d requested an exchange for my loafers, not a refund! To receive an acknowledgment of this took weeks!I have contacted their only retail location in the USA (Soho NYC) for assistance. All of the salesmen that I interacted with were understanding, courteous and professional. They too seemed bewildered as to what had transpired. Simply put, dealing with this company via online has been an ordeal!

I just got my new pair of tassel loafers and I am a newbie into shoe shining community, is there a difference between applying the leather conditioner by bare fingers and by using a chamois? I don't understand why you skip an eyelet. When you try to cinch up both laces when done, the slipped hole lace has too much slack and won't respond.

Well I've had 2 pairs of Church bookbinder for over 25 years and never had an issue and they still look very good today, I look after them like I look after my more expensive shoes.

Been using the water alcohol mix since the 80s.

I would put any Bridlen shoe up against a Meermin shoe and feel confident that the Bridlen shoe will have better detail, fewer flaws, and look good longer.
